'Loose Lips Sink Ships'

"Surveying 1,008 UK consumers between the ages of 16 and 64, Sophos found that 42 percent of devices that were lost or left in insecure locations had no active security measures to protect data"

Wow people, seriously. I have written about this before, but it still amazes me that people share the their most sensitive information in the stupidest of ways.

Im clinging on to the vague hope that most people just do not think past their glossy screen to the 'what if' scenario .

  • What if someone was to use this phone to jokingly call my friends?
  • What if someone evil was to use this phone to access my corporate email and send my clients spam (or worse)?
  • What if someone malicious got hold of this phone and used my Social Insurance number?
  • What if some paedophile got hold of this phone and used it follow my daughter home?

The full survey press release can be found here, along with the summary article here.

It's not just phones people need to protect. Take a look at this (older) article of idiots posting photos of their credit cards online. <shakes head>
