This morning I realised why I dont like working early mornings. The brain just doesnt function. Simple problems with simple solutions become large complex organisms, frustrations rise faster than the Apollo rocket and all hope of solving the issue nose dive faster than a concrete jet.
Shaw, very kindly, and in accordance with their agreement, decided that we should have a new static IP address. Well... they actually decided a few weeks ago but cancelled the change just before I clicked 'OK'. Still, at least they had the curtesy to email me with my new IP details a week before hand, plus a follow up a few days later.
Fast forward to today, and we're trying again!
Unfortunatley, one key peice of information was missing from the email, which resulted in a few hours of head scratching and desk pounding. This valued peice of info should read
"Before trying to use your shiney new IP address, please restart your Shaw modem."
Now I know that this should be something that I should do anyway. But at 4am, with little caffine in my system, I have more in common with an amoeba. Unfortunately, this means I will be in early tomorrow again to have another stab at this.
Thanks to Walter over at Shaw Business Internet in Vancouver for not laughing while we went through this issue confirming my new IP addresses and reminding me to restart my modem.
